Summer Activity Planning

Tuesday, January 12 2021

12:00pm - 12:45pm

Typically, rising high school juniors and seniors would be applying for summer internships and academic programs in January. But, during the summer of 2020, many internships were canceled and academic programs were moved to virtual formats. Will that also be the case for the summer of 2021?

We know that mass vaccinations are coming, but will they come in time to salvage the 2021 internship and academic programming season? If yes, we’ll discuss the process for securing those desired spots. If not, what can students do to fill the summer months with meaningful activities that are personally rewarding and impressive for college application purposes?

Join Florence and Victoria to learn their predictions for the summer of 2021 and to discuss ingenious ways to find - and land - meaningful activities regardless of what Covid-19 has in store for us.

Building Your College List During a Pandemic

Tuesday, February 9 2021

12:00pm - 12:45pm

The saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” takes on particular relevance for high school juniors in the spring of 2021. As the country remains in lockdown, they are faced with the challenge of compiling a college list when they are precluded from actually seeing most colleges. So … what are they to do and how can they best gauge which schools might be right for them under these trying circumstances?

Join Florence and Victoria to discuss researching colleges and compiling comprehensive lists from home. College admissions web pages are a great place to start the process, but can they really help students determine their best fits? They are, among other things, in the business of recruiting applications to their respective institutions. We’ll discuss best practices and share some “insider” tips that can help students learn where to look to get the answers they need. While not the same as physically visiting a school, our strategies go a long way toward helping students discover where they’d like to spend their next four years.
